Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship Award
Congratulations to Dr Matt Towers (Dept Biomedical Science, Bateson Centre) who has been awarded a prestigious Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship in basic biomedical science. As an MRC career development fellow in the Dept Biomedical Science, Bateson Centre, Dr Towers used the classic chick limb bud system to study fundamental principles of developmental biology, in particular morphogenesis and the integration of growth and pattern. His new programme of work builds on these studies to investigate the molecular basis of timing and scaling of developing tissues. Understanding these principles is key to developing strategies for tissue repair and molecular regenerative medicine.
