Bateson members travel to Malaysia to run a workshop about the use of zebrafish in research.
Sarah Baxendale and Mat Green, with Steve Winder from BMS, were recently invited to travel to the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) to deliver a workshop to teach some of their skills to IIUM scientists.
The University of Sheffield has a number of experts in biomedical research who, along with an expert technical team, have developed a world leading reputation in the field.
This is the first time this workshop has been run and it offered training to postgraduate students and other researchers from across South East Asia.
Mat said of the workshop, “The University of Sheffield’s Department of Biomedical Science is a world-recognised centre of excellence for zebrafish research. We provided laboratory sessions and lectures to explain how to use zebrafish and the kinds of research that benefit from this important tool.”
Sarah said, “Modern scientific research takes place across the global community and workshops such as this serve to highlight the University’s reach and influence around the world.”
