Postgraduate research study at Biomedical Science

Study with us

Postgraduate study opportunities

As a cross faculty research centre spanning the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health, the Bateson Centre is internationally recognised as a leading facility for Lifecourse biology.  Lifecourse Biology is the biology of change throughout life: the biology of growth, remodelling, degeneration and repair. The basic mechanistic understanding of these processes has obvious importance in maintaining health and treating disease. Lifecourse Biology is of direct importance to understanding how we age and how external stresses exacerbate disease and contribute to decline with age.

We have an excellent record in training postgraduate students and a commitment to training the next generation of leading scientists. We offer study opportunities to talented students, from both clinical and non-clinical backgrounds, who wish to pursue a career in the fields of lifecourse sciences.

Depending on the source of supported funding, we are able to support UK and EU-based students with funding from the MRC, BBSRC and other charities. We also welcome applications from excellent students of any nationality who have independent funding or who wish to compete for scholarships that they have identified.
