Travel & Public Transport
Though Sheffield is often described as the ‘big village’, its hills can make a short walk seem more difficult than expected for some. Please don’t let this put you off; we encourage walking and cycling in our beautiful city, just be sure to come prepared with the right footwear if you plan on exploring the city by foot.
Alternatively, our transport systems, particularly Sheffield's excellent Tram service, make it easy to get from A to B. Take a look at our Local Public Transport guide for further information. In addition to this, Travel South Yorkshire covers all Sheffield public transport options, including ticket price details and a handy journey planning tool.
If you're coming by road, the Sheffield Parkway will take you from the M1 to the city centre in five or ten minutes, traffic dependent.
