What is accreditation?

Accreditation is an important mark of assurance that our degrees are current, relevant and highly regarded by the engineering profession.

The rigorous accreditation process looks at all aspects of our courses, including teaching, assessment, student experience, resources and facilities. Having strong links with industry, and using those links to inform course content, is another key marker for achieving accreditation.

Who accredits our courses?

Our degrees have each been accredited by the UK’s leading relevant professional engineering institutions: The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM).

What are the benefits of studying for an accredited degree?

Having an accredited degree can give you a distinct advantage in the jobs market. It provides assurance to our students and to employers that you have the skills, knowledge and practical experience needed to excel in the workplace.

Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degree programmes, so you're more likely to be considered for a position within these companies.

Our MEng degrees fully meet the requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, whilst our BEng degrees partially meet them. Chartered Engineers have improved career prospects and higher earning potential.
