Learning and teaching focus

I am focussed on providing students in higher education with the best possible learning experience whilst at university. My interests and expertise are centred on: professional development for all who teach and/or support learning; curriculum design; distance learning; strategic development of learning and teaching; the scholarship of learning and teaching; encouraging engagement with the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and supporting learning in higher education; exploring what is meant by "teaching excellence"; equality, diversity and inclusion in higher education.

I supervise project students on BMS6015 (Action research: scholarship in learning and teaching), and am developing two modules to be taught on MSc programmes “with Education” across the Faculty of Science from September 2019: BMS6009 (Students and the learning environment) and BMS6018 (Curriculum and programme development) and a new project module for Level 3: Science Policy and Communication which will have its first delivery in autumn 2020.
