PhD with Integrated Studies

These four year programmes combines a one year masters course with a three year PhD research project. You have a choice of five masters courses you can do in your first year, followed by a project from the PhD opportunities we are advertising at the time, or one of your own. It's a chance to develop your specialist knowledge and practical skills before starting your PhD training.

Applying

The application process for this programme is slightly different to applying for either a MSc or PhD on its own.

To apply for this course, complete the University of Sheffield's postgraduate online application form. When you open up the form, choose 'Add a new research course' in section two. Under 'Course selection' choose 'PhD with Integrated Masters', and when asked which PhD with Integrated Masters you want to apply for, enter the name of the MSc course you want to do in your first year.

Postgraduate online application form

In your application, you can include a research area or project title and the name of a preferred supervisor for your PhD project, but this is not essential. You can find information about our research ares and the staff who work in those areas on our research webpages, and information about PhD projects can be found on our PhD opportunities webpages:
