As the University continues to grow, so does the need to provide high quality accommodation for a wide range of activities.
Interdisciplinary learning is increasingly important. This has already been recognised with the development of The Diamond, which will provide world class learning and teaching spaces for the Faculty of Engineering, as well as library and IT resources for all students and staff, building on the success of our Information Commons.
Included in the Campus Masterplan are proposals for a number of new buildings, including a new science building in the Hounsfield area, and a much bigger, state-of-the-art sports centre on Northumberland Road, which is also the planned location for an impressive social sciences building, bringing together many subject areas under one roof, creating a perfect environment for interdisciplinary learning.
There will be separate public consultation on all of these developments before they are submitted for planning approval.
