The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering has welcomed Malaysian students for many years, particularly at undergraduate level. Sponsored prospective undergraduate students studying a relevant Diploma in Chemical Engineering at many Malaysian universities, including UiTM and UniKL, may be eligible for entry to level two of our undergraduate programmes, subject to achieving a sufficiently high GPA. Our Department has a long history of welcoming Malaysian students, we make regular trips to the region to take part in British Council education events and UCAS fairs, as well as visiting schools and colleges, offering Malaysian applicants an opportunity to talk to our staff. Our degrees are accredited by the IChemE, which also has a branch in Malaysia. Employers recognise that a degree from Sheffield is a mark of quality. Recent Malaysian graduates of our Department have gone on to work for Petronas, UMW Oil & Gas, Greendex Sdn. Bhd., ExxonMobil and Malakoff Corporation Bhd.

Malaysian Student Societies
Malaysian students play a leading role in many of the national, cultural and sporting student societies at the University of Sheffield.
The Students’ Union has two extremely active Malaysian student societies, providing a support network for Malaysian students right across the University. They regularly participate in events run by the Union’s International Students’ Committee, including the International Cultural Evening, World Week and World Food Festival, as well as organising the annual Sheffield Malaysian Games.
