Eligibility and entry requirements

Our MSc courses are designed for students who wish to specialise in their chosen area or who are already working in this field but wish to deepen their knowledge. Please see our entry requirements for each programme below.

MSc (Eng) Biological and Bioprocess Engineering
MSc (Eng) Biochemical Engineering with Industrial Management

  • An upper second class honours degree (2:1) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Applicants with a 2:2 are welcome to apply and will be considered on merit.
  • IELTS with an average of 6.5 or above with at least 5.5 in each component or equivalent
  • Relevant disciplines for your first degree include the following: chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, biological engineering, biomaterials, biomedical engineering, materials and process engineering.

MSc (Eng) Process Safety and Loss Prevention

  • A good degree (at least a 2.2) in a relevant engineering or science discipline or deemed qualified as a result of a lower qualification accompanied by wide work experience which is directly relevant to the course
  • IELTS with an average of 6.5 or above with at least 5.5 in each component or equivalent
  • It should be noted that for entrants without a first degree at classification 2.2 or above, initial entrance must be to the Diploma course, with the opportunity to transfer to the MSc on satisfactory completion of half of the taught course material.

MSc (Eng) Environmental and Energy Engineering
MSc (Eng) Energy Engineering with Industrial Management

  • a recognised graduate, attained good honours degree in engineering, technological or science subject or deemed qualified as a result of wide work experience
  • IELTS with an average of 6.5 or above with at least 5.5 in each component or equivalent.
