The Postgraduate Gender Research Network (PGRN)

The PGRN was established by postgraduate researchers in 2006 as an informal multi-disciplinary forum for postgraduate researchers interested in gender. This active group is supported by a University of Sheffield Skills Training Development Grant.

The PGRN is intended as a self-led space for postgraduate researchers to develop personal skills training with a gendered, multi-disciplinary focus.

Current members are from a wide range of departments, including Politics, Sociology, Education, History, Law, Psychology, Music, Geography, Russian, English Language and Linguistics, English Literature, ScHARR, and we would love to hear from more. All postgraduate students are welcome to any of our events, even if your research does not specifically refer to gender.

All meetings offer the chance to network with postgraduate researchers across the University.

In 2008, the PGRN set up a reading group. Please follow the link on the left for more details.

The PGRN is currently convened by Charlotte Jones (, Jen Kettle ( and Kitty Nichols ( in Sociological Studies. Please contact them for information on events.
