Study of emission energies and aurophilic interactions lands journal cover

An article co-authored by Professor Julia Weinstein from the Department of Chemistry has been published as an inside-cover in the American Chemical Society journal Inorganic Chemistry.

The paper, 'Unequivocal Experimental Evidence of the Relationship between Emission Energies and Aurophilic Interactions', details how the distances between gold atoms in a crystalline complex can be altered using an external pressure, thus leading to changes in the emission energy of the complex.

The cover image represents experimental evidence of the change in emission energy as a function of the gold–gold distance promoted by external pressure. This result can be indirectly related to the repulsive branch of the fitted function representing the energy of the system at different gold–gold distances.
