Student awarded bursary to attend Paris conference
A PhD student in the Department of Chemistry has been awarded a bursary from the Royal Society of Chemistry Bursary to attend a chemistry conference in Paris.
Stephen Aderinto, who works with Professor Jim Thomas, will attend the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry's (IUPAC) 2019 Congress and General Assembly.
The bursaries are part of the IUPAC Young Observer program, which aims to introduce the work of IUPAC to a new generation of researchers.
This year will be a busy one for IUPAC: not only is it celebrating its centenary, but 2019 has also been declared the UN International Year of the Periodic Table.
The bursary covers the costs of travel, registration and accommodation at the conference.
Stephen will attend meetings of the IUPAC Divisions and Standing Committees so that he can learn more about what the union does and how students can get involved its activities.
