Promotions for Julia Weinstein and Jim Thomas
Our department has recently seen the promotion of dr. Julia Weinstein and Prof. Jim Thomas.
Jim Thomas was awarded a professorial chair for his research into luminescent metal complexes that interact with ions, molecules, and biomolecules such as DNA. This work has produced a number of new biological probes and therapeutic leads. Jim says that the promotion was; "thanks to the hard work of his research group and our collaborators in Sheffield and elsewhere around the world."
Julia Weinstein was awarded a readership in physical chemistry for her work on the ultrafast dynamics of electron and energy transfer in the condensed phase. Her research has focused on using transition-metal complexes for the conversion of light into energy and like Jim Thomas' research is highly collaborative in nature.
Congratulations to both|
