Glass blowing

The University of Sheffield Glass Workshop is fully equipped to manufacture a wide range of scientific glassware for research. Apparatus can be made to individual requirements to the highest of standards.

Customers are welcome to visit the workshop for consultation on their requirements. Glassblower Daniel Jackson has many years of experience making Scientific Glass apparatus and is skilled in many techniques in both the hot and cold working of glass. Daniel has been recognised with awards from the British Society of Scientific Glassblowers for outstanding Craftsmanship.

The workshop is capable of making glassware to bespoke requirements and staff are happy to discuss requirements and make recommendations if needed on both materials and specifications. Examples of some glassware produced in the workshop are:

  • Distillation Apparatus
  • Jacketed Apparatus
  • Glass Electrodes
  • Chromatography Columns

Standard glassware can also be customised as required and repairs can be made to broken glassware.
