## Student Printing Charges

• A4 Black and White - 5p for one-sided sheet, 2.5p per side for double-sided sheet.
• A3 Black and White - 10p per sheet, 5p per side for double-sided sheet.
• A4 Colour - 25p for one-sided sheet, 12.5p per side for double-sided sheet.
• A3 Colour - 50p for one-sided sheet, 25p per side for double-sided sheet.

The printing system will automatically detect which pages are black & white and which contain some colour. The system will only charge the colour prices for the pages that contain colour. The remaining pages will be charged at the lower black & white prices.

For example, if a two-page A4 document containing one black & white and one colour page was printed double-sided using the Student-colour printer:

The old cost would be 25p (per sheet).

New cost will be 2.5p+12.5p (per side) =15p

Here are some examples to explain how it works.

Student-black-and-white

This used to be charged at 5p per A4 sheet. After the change, a one-sided sheet of printing will cost of 5p. A double-sided sheet of printing will cost 2.5p per side.

Therefore if a student prints single-sided, they will be charged 5p, and if they print double-sided they will be charged 2.5p+2.5p=5p. So there is no change to the actual job cost.

This used to be charged at 25p per A4 sheet. After the change, a one-sided sheet of printing will cost 25p, and a double-sided sheet will cost 12.5p per side.

Therefore if a student prints single-sided, they will be charged 25p, and if they print double-sided they will be charged 12.5p+12.5p=25p. Again there is no change to the end cost.

The same method for calculating the cost also applies to photocopying.

It is better to print double sided, than single sided.
