Counter StaffAs counter staff working on the helpdesks across the University of Sheffield, you may have to work with the new Resource Bookings system. On these pages you will find all of the essential information you need to know about how to book out equipment, what students and staff can borrow, the time frames in which they can loan equipment or facilities for, how to book out and return equipment and the terms and conditions in place for each service's equipment or facilities. |
SupportStaff and students across the university can book out multimedia equipment and facilities and are responsible for that equipment or room whilst they are loaning or occupying it. The resource bookings system is simple and easy to use, and you will find all of the information and help guides on these pages to help you to use and understand the system, as well as providing you will all of the contact details needed for each service's terms and conditions and time barriers they have in place depending on the resource being loaned. |

At the University of Sheffield both staff and students have access to book out and use multimedia equipment to aid their work, extra-curricula activities and studies. Students and staff have access to different resources, which will be listed below, but they are all booked out via the Connect2 resource booking system. Staff BookingsStaff at the university have access to the Creative Media equipment and facilities that are situated on level 4 of The Diamond building. The equipment and facilities can be booked out by staff up to 6 weeks in advance and can be used for both work and personal projects during their time working at the university. Creative Media Equipment: Creative Media equipment can be booked out up to 6 weeks in advance and can be booked for up to 4 days. Staff have access to book up to 5 items of Creative Media equipment but only one of those pieces of equipment can be a camera within a single booking. Please note: if the equipment is booked out in someones name they are the ones who are responsible for the equipment to be returned in the same condition it was loaned out in. If any loss or damage occurs during the booking the individual who has booked the equipment is the one who will be held accountable for any repair or replacement costs. Creative Media Facilities: The facilities that are situated on level 4 of The Diamond are bookable by staff and students up to 6 weeks in advance for up to 4 hours at a time. The TV studio requires an induction by one of the Creative Media team to ensure you are aware of how the equipment works so you can gain the most out of your time in the studio. The Creative Media facilities include the TV studio, podcasting studio, high spec PC labs & media booths. Student BookingsCreative Media Facilities The facilities that are situated on level 4 of The Diamond are bookable by staff and students up to 6 weeks in advance for up to 4 hours at a time. Laptops Laptops are available to students to book out in The Diamond, The Information Commons, Western Bank Library and the Royal Hallamshire Hospital Library. The laptops in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital Library and in Western Bank Library are bookable on Connect2 up to 2 days in advance and need to be collected at the library counter and returned before the end of the working day, however, the laptops that are bookable in The Information Commons and The Diamond are bookable via the self-service cabinets and can be booked for up to 24 hours at a time. Group Rooms and Spaces The group rooms and spaces we have available at the University of Sheffield are located across the university campus and can be booked up to 2 days in advance and can be booked for up to 4 hours at a time. Please note: if you have booked a group room or space and do not show up within 20 minutes after the start of the booking the group room or space can be allocated to another student or group of students. This is so the group rooms are used for their purpose by students across campus, so please ensure the customer is aware of this prior to booking. |

Each resource that can be booked out by staff and students at the university have different terms and conditions in place that staff and students, as well as counter staff, need to be aware of to ensure all equipment or facilities are used correctly and the individuals borrowing equipment are aware of their responsibilities when booking out equipment.
