Research Project: Discontinuities In Porous Media: Extended Isogeometric Analysis Approach
Exploiting IGA's interesting features about geometry and higher order continuity in derivatives, XFEM and IGA were combined to supersede classical XFEM for capturing crack propagation independent of the mesh.
In this project, XIGA is incorporated into porous media to improve stress estimations around the crack tip, and consequently to predict crack propagation phenomenon more accurately.
