Profile

Simon graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2013 with a degree in Civil Engineering and subsequently joined the water engineering research group as a PhD student.

His research investigated the evolution of long term hydrological performance in extensive green roof systems, with particular focus on analysing monitoring data and performing non-invasive investigations using X-Ray Computed Tomography (XRCT).

On completion of his PhD, Simon left the department and joined Loughborough University as a Research Associate on the NERC funded COMPACT project. In this role Simon applied the methodologies developed in the PhD to exploring rural hydrology and the role of soil compaction on flood risk.

Simon returned to the University of Sheffield in February of 2019 and is currently a Research Associate on the EPSRC funded Urban Green DaMS project.

In this role Simon continues to explore urban hydrology, sustainable drainage systems, soil-water interactions, and non-invasive investigative techniques.
