Chinese New Year Celebration

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with variety shows, stalls, food and an evening of performance!

As a member of a joint committee, as well as a sponsor, the CI works with Sheffield City Council, Sheffield Chinese Community Centre, Wanlin Dance Academy, Chinese Students and Scholars Association, Lai Yin Association, Hallam University and many more of generous sponsors and supporters. This annual celebration is a unique cultural outreach event where the local Chinese Community celebrates alongside people from across the city and region.


Chinese New Year Celebration at Sheffield City Hall, Monday 27th January 2020

Featuring top Chinese Acrobat Troupe from Jiangxi Province

Time: 4:00 - 6.45pm (Pre-Show, free admission) and 7pm - 8.45pm (Main Show, ticketed)
Venue: Sheffield City Hall, Barker's Pool, Sheffield S1 2JA

Pre-Show will feature Cultural Activities, Chinese Arts Competition for Schools, China in Photographs Competition, Stalls, Food Sale and Live Performance at the Ballroom. The Ballroom door opens at 4.00pm (FREE admissions).

Main Show will be held at the Main Hall- Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall, Ticketed*, at 7.00pm.

* Tickets can be purchased at the Students Union Box Office and at the office of the Confucius Institute, located on 2-4 Palmerston Road, S10 2TE (behind Children's Hospital, entrance facing Northumberland Road).
