Top three in Cisco University Challenge

On the 26th October, a team of students from the Department went to the Cisco University Challenge 2017, at Cisco’s HQ in London. The annual event gathers over 70 students from the top universities in the UK&I to compete with each other in a two day hackathon.

Teams were give 24 house to create a product.  The Sheffield team designed an app to integrate NFC technology into trains.  This would be able to provide more accurate live information about the train, as well as providing services such as food delivery to your seat. The team placed in the top 3 of the competition and are now in talks with Cisco and National Rail about implementing their solution.
