L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science PhD Poster Competition
Najwa Alghamdi is one of 10 female PhD students from across the UK and Ireland who has been selected to present her research at the at the Royal Society in London on 22 June 2016 for the ‘L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science PhD Poster Competition’. Najwa, a PhD student in the Visual Computing research group, will present her work on using enhanced videos in training systems for the hard of hearing. Within the videos, the facial signals of the speaker are made more prominent by applying artificial lipstick or by synthetically exaggerating mouth movements.
Najwa’s PhD is supervised by Dr Steve Maddock, Prof. Guy Brown and Dr Jon Barker.
