Our part-time degrees with a foundation year 


In addition to full-time degrees with integrated foundation years at the Department for Lifelong Learning, we also offer part-time foundation years in some subject areas as an alternative route onto full and part-time degree level study. The part-time foundation year is studied at 50% intensity, compared to the full time foundation year, and will take 2 years to complete.

These routes may be of particular interest to you if you are a mature applicant who doesn't have the standard entry qualifications and wants to take your academic studies a little more slowly. If you do decide to take this route, you will be learning alongside full-time foundation year students and have access to all the same support and facilities. 

On successful completion of the foundation year (see individual course pages for more information), students transfer to the academic department in which they will complete their degree. While there, they will continue to be able to access the tailored support provided by the Department for Lifelong Learning.
