Extension request form

This form is for Department for Lifelong Learning students only. Please also refer to the detailed information on Extensions and Extenuating Circumstances on the Virtual Office and in the Student Handbook.

If you are a non-DLL student please contact your Department or Personal Tutor for guidance on how to request an extension.

You are strongly encouraged to contact the Student Support and Welfare Team and/or your Programme Director if you are experiencing any difficulties meeting coursework submission dates – they will be able to advise you on options relating to management of deadlines and extensions. Please always contact us in advance if you may be unable to meet a deadline – extensions cannot normally be agreed retrospectively. Failure to submit a piece of work may result in failure of the module and can have a significant impact on your progression with your programme of study.

Students are expected to manage their workloads so that they can meet the deadlines set by the University, including building in contingency time for dealing with unexpected minor events. If something serious or unexpected happens to make submission of an assessment impossible, please complete our extension request form. If the request is due to illness, supporting evidence may be needed. The request is sent to the Student Support and Welfare team who will consider the request. If you are unsure whether to request an extension, please contact your Personal Tutor or your Student Support Manager for advice. Extension requests should usually be made at least 24 hours in advance of the deadline – further details are given on the request form.

Work submitted late without an agreed extension will have marks deducted as a penalty.
