I studied at Doncaster College; Sheffield Hallam University and The University of Leeds and gained an MA in Sociology; BA (Hons) English /Social Studies; Dip HE Behavioural Sciences and PGCE (FE).
I have taught sociology and Women’s Studies extensively on Community Education Programmes in West Yorkshire. I held a lectureship at the University of Leeds for fifteen years in the School of Healthcare Studies. As Sociology Co-Ordinator I managed learning and teaching of the subject across the School. I taught psychology, sociology and social science to a range of undergraduate and post-graduate healthcare professionals, social workers, counsellors and students of education.
I enjoy reading, travelling, rock music and finding the child in myself by having adventures with my grandchildren, which their parents disapprove of.
I manage the psychology and sociology modules on the Foundation Programme and contribute to teaching in the Social Science and ALCS.
I am developing the role of Diversity champion in DLL,
My research interests are focussed around mental health issues, (specifically the construction of behaviour perceived as problematic in children- ADHD /ADD); Difference and Diversity, and issues around the social the construction of sexuality.
