Our Advisory Board provides the Department of Economics with advice on areas of strategic importance such as our research and innovation as well as our teaching curriculum, in particular the relevance to careers and professional practice.

Anjalika Bardalai – TheCityUK

Photo of Advisory Board member Anjalika BardalaiAnjalika manages TheCityUK’s economic research programme. She leads the team that produces the organisation’s in-house economic research, presents research and analysis externally, and writes TheCityUK’s economics blog.

Prior to joining TheCityUK in 2014, she spent 12 years with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), holding a number of different roles in the company’s New York and London offices, including Manager of ‘Country Reports’, the EIU’s flagship publication. After the EIU, Anjalika spent two years with the consultancy Eurasia Group, overseeing the company’s South Asia-focused macroeconomic and political analysis.

Dr Abigail Diamond – CFE Research

Photo of Abi Diamond 150x150CFE Research is an independent social research company, providing research and evaluation services. Abigail joined in 2008 and has been managing director since 2012. With over 11 years’ experience in social research that spans both consultancy and academia, she has led a number of large, complex evaluations into labour market outcomes; further and higher education; and workforce development.

A key focus of her recent work has been the application of behavioural economics to understanding student choice and she produced a UK review of the provision of information about higher education. She also has a keen interest in the role of technology in education; leadership and cultural change. Abigail is also a visiting fellow at Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University.

Camilla Egginton – NEST Corporation

Photo of Advisory Board member Camilla EggintonNEST is the pension scheme set up by the UK Government to meet the needs of automatic pension enrolment. Camilla joined in 2012 and is currently Director of Product and Solutions, which includes overseeing their products and making sure they meet the needs of their users. She has previously been Director of Strategy (2014-2015) and Head of Strategic Development (2012-14) at NEST. Before 2012 Camilla was a Senior Economist at OfGem (2009-2012) and a Consultant at Booz & Company (now Strategy&).

Edward Glossop - Capital Economics

Photo of Ed GlossopEdward Glossop is a Macroeconomist at Capital Economics. He works within the emerging markets team, providing macroeconomic forecasting and analysis for clients - mostly hedge funds and asset managers, but also corporates.

Edward is frequently quoted in the media, including the Financial Times, Bloomberg and CNBC, and has appeared numerous times on BBC TV. He presents Capital Economics’ views on Emerging Markets at client conferences and meetings.

Darren Winder - Lazarus Economics and Strategy

Photo of Advisory Board Member Darren WinderLazarus Economics and Strategy provides independent research and statistical analysis of a broad range of UK economic and financial indicators, particularly in relation to developments in the housing market and consumer spending.

After graduating from the University of Sheffield, Darren worked as an economist at the Bank of England before moving to SG Warburg/UBS and J.P. Morgan Cazenove.
