Profile

Harry’s PhD addressed a variety of issues motivated by major political economy events in recent times. The first chapter explored how historical diversity affects current levels of fiscal decentralization.

The second examined the effect of partisan alignment between US governors and the president on the amount of fiscal transfers to the aligned governor’s state. The third chapter investigated the impact of the pro-remain government leaflet on voting behaviour in the 2016 EU referendum.

Harry is a member of the Sheffield Interdisciplinary Political Economy Research Group (SiPErg), which runs an annual workshop on the latest research in political economy and political science.

Research interests

His research interests are primarily in the areas of political and public economics, particularly in voting behaviour, British political economy and Brexit, electoral cycles and political leadership.

He is interested in applied microeconometrics in a variety of research topics.
