MA Applied Professional Studies in Education

Duration: 1 year part-time distance learning

The MA Applied Professional Studies is an exciting distance learning programme that has been designed to complement our PGDE programme. It was set up in partnership with 9 subject associations as well as local authorities, to take into account professional development needs of practising teachers. The programme supports your development with specific reference to the teaching and learning of your specialist subject, you will receive tailored support and supervision to assist in identifying and developing a dissertation-level research project.

Photograph of a student in a libraryThe MA Applied Professional Studies in Education is in a position to draw on a range of expertise from across the School, whilst also building on the highly successful Initial Teacher Education (Postgraduate Diploma in Education/PGDE) programme.

During the Saturday study schools you will explore a range of issues in practitioner-research methodologies and the development of students' projects, along with opportunities to share and debate ideas with a community of academics and peers. This is complemented by structured and targeted online materials on research methods and methodologies, as well individual supervision from a personal tutor.
