Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching, for trainees on the Sheffield SCITT
As part of the Sheffield School-Centred Initial Teacher Training scheme, participants take a PGCert in Learning and Teaching with the University of Sheffield. This builds on our long history of initial teacher education, and enables trainees undertaking a practice-led route to still engage with and benefit from research-led university education.
The programme is a two-year part-time certificate, consisting of one module on contemporary issues in education, and a second module that is a practitioner research project, tailored to the participant’s interests. Trainees are working in both primary and secondary schools, and through this certificate, engage with a research-led approach to considering the practice and theory of education. Upon completion of the PGCert, graduates are included within our NQT/RQT conference, so they can continue building links with other local teachers; and are welcome to progress onto our MA in Applied Professional Studies in Education (Online), so they can continue with their university studies alongside their developing teaching career.
Please note, this certificate is only open to Sheffield SCITT trainees, and we do not accept applications from other candidates.
If you are involved with another SCITT and would be interested in working with The University of Sheffield, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact email@example.com for further information.
