Congratulations to Rhianne Quigley, Rex Walford Award winner 2017
Former School of Education PGDE student, Rhianne Quigley, has been announced as the winner of the 2017 Rex Walford Award. The Rex Walford Award is part of Young Geographer of the Year, a national competition run by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).

How do humans constitute themselves, others and their world through stories? What power relations and politics are at work in storying? What are the responsibilities of researchers as story-tellers, story-makers, story disruptors? What can storying research help us to understand about affect, relations, materiality, embodiment? What are the stories of the non-human? Are rocks, rivers and rain storyful?

Professor Jackie Marsh conferred as Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS)
We are delighted to announce that Professor Jackie Marsh has been confirmed as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. Professor Elizabeth Wood, said “The award recognises Jackie's exceptional contribution to the Social Sciences, for her ground-breaking research in the field of Literacies, and children's digital play which is highly regarded in the UK and internationally.”
