The School of Education Cements Its Reputation for World-leading Research in REF 2014
The results, published on Thursday 18 December, show that our impact is ranked as second to none. We were awarded 100% 4* Case studies and Impact strategy. The impact of our research is judged to be world leading.
The REF assesses excellence across the three fields of published research outputs, research impact, and the environment for research in the Department.
Our research environment is ranked as 100% 4* (world-leading) and 3* (internationally excellent), it situates our academic team to carry out world leading and internationally excellent research.
We are ranked 4th overall in Education in the UK, with world leading and internationally excellent research.
The Head of the School of Education, Professor Cathy Nutbrown said "This outcome confirms the high quality of our research and our commitment to doing research that has strong and lasting impact".
Professor Gill Valentine, Pro-Vice Chancellor said "I just want to offer my congratulations on your fantastic performance in REF2014. This is an exceptional achievement".
The University of Sheffield achieved a ranking of joint 12th in the Russell Group of universities.
Faculty of Social Sciences Research Conference Award
At the Faculty of Social Sciences Research Conference 2015 held on Thursday 17th September the School of Education won an award for Excellence in Research Impact.
Professor Cathy Nutbrown, Head of the School of Education, commented
