Microelectronics

Learn the theory and the practical skills you need to create semiconductor devices and circuits. Core subjects include: integrated circuit technology and basic VLSI design; electronic device design; and semiconductor light-emitting diodes and laser diodes.

The course will equip you with both practical skills in fabrication and theoretical understanding, allowing you to work in the semiconductor industry, either in silicon based technologies or in more exotic materials. The experience in using cleanroom facilities is also of a wider relevance, as high yield processes in many areas require the use of clean environments.

Microelectronics with a Year in Industry 

This course has the same academic content as our Microelectronics course. The difference is that you’ll spend a year working full-time for an engineering company, putting your academic study into context and enhancing your career prospects. Placements take place in the penultimate year of study, ie. between the third and fourth year for MEng students.
