Congratulations to Robert Byers from the EEE Biophotonics Group who was awarded the Moor Instruments Best Technology Abstract Prize at the 67th Annual meeting of the British Microcirculation Society (Held at the University of Birmingham).

Prize: Moor Instruments Best Technology Abstract PrizeRobert Byers Moors Instruments Best Technology Abstract Prize BMS 2017

Details: Awarded for a poster demonstrating how a non-invasive imaging modality (Angiographic optical coherence tomography) can be used to aid clinical assessment of atopic dermatitis (Eczema). In particular, through assessment of the skin microcirculation, which holds several key indicators that appear to correlate well with disease severity (Microvascular depth, diameter and connectivity). Being able to visualise and quantify these subclinical abnormalities may allow clinicians to assess the condition past the point of clinical remission, giving valuable information that may influence treatment options and aid in the suppression of potential relapses.
