The discussion focused on how to scale up participation in the sector and support new entrants, build a robust supply chain, job creation and skills training, the deployment of increased wind power generation into the electricity grid and the potential for wind power generation to revitalise coastal communities.
Professor Foster is involved with the Powertrain Research Hub which is part of the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult launched by the UK government in 2013 as part of a network of catapults in high growth industries. The hub will support the development of future technologies for larger turbines and research solutions for improving turbine reliability and availability.
