As part of the Department of Electronic And Electrical Engineering, we have five anechoic chambers including custom facilities for antenna characterisation at frequencies above 1 GHz, characterisation of both low and high loss materials (for radome and RCS work), a fully polarimetric SAR imaging facility and one for very low RCS measurements.

In addition we have both indoor anechoic and outdoor free-field range facilities at our Buxton site. These are complemented by a full range of computer controlled measurement instrumentation based largely on automatic vector network analysers including the HP8510 and the HP8720.
Electromagnetic modelling is carried out using a range of in-house software, based mainly on MoM methods, Ansoft HFSS and CST Microwave Studio.
