Ground Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBSAR)
The Communications Research Group has a fully polarimetric Radar Cross Section (RCS) test facility, housed in a fully anechoic chamber. This facility is capable of characterising the scattering for 3D targets and is fully automated. The facility uses X-Y scanning antennas to allow large objects to be measured accurately and has in-house developed processing software to provide a 2D and 3D image of the target.
- Frequency range: 2-18GHz (continuous frequency sweep or in various waveguide bands)
- Maximum target dimension: 1.5m
- Polarisation: VV, HH, VH and HV
- Outputs:
- Calibrated RCS with frequency
- 2D and 3D target image
