I received my BSc degree from Nanjing University (China), my MSc degree from Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and my PhD degree from the University of Sheffield. Starting from 2008, I worked at Kobe University (Japan) as a JSPS Fellow. In 2010, I joined Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands) as a postdoc, working on cavity quantum electrodynamics based on single quantum dots in photonic crystal cavities. From 2013, I moved into industry with EFFECT Photonics B.V. at Eindhoven. In my role as a senior photonics scientist, I developed 100-400G optical transceivers for short-reach optical communications based on the generic photonic integration technology.
I am currently working as a Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow, developing research programs on ultrafast photonic devices at the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, the University of Sheffield. My research activities have a distinct focus on nano-photonic devices for optical signal and quantum information processing, including optical switches, lasers, single-photon sources, and nano-photonic integrated circuits.
