Dr Jonathan Rigelsford is a Senior Research Fellow within the Communications Research Group at the University of Sheffield and is an Associate Researcher in the Department of Signal Theory & Communications, University of Alcalá, Spain.

Employed as a Senior Design Engineer at one of the UK’s leading cellular antenna manufacturers from 2000-2002, he has since become internationally recognised as an expert in the field of Communications and Cyber Security. Dr Rigelsford has over 12 years academic and industrial experience of wired and wireless communications systems and has performed consultancy services to the telecommunications, automotive and defence industries.

In 2011 Dr Rigelsford was awarded a research prize by the European Confederation of Institutes of International Auditing (ECIIA) for a project on Cyber Security and Information Assurance. Subsequently, he has been an invited speaker at 5 international conferences on Cyber Security.

His research interests has included work funded by Rolls Royce and the BBC World Service, and includes compact antenna design, RF measurements, large scale electromagnetic modelling and Cyber Security. He has supervised several PhD students, and has over 60 publications.

He is currently Secretary to the Wireless Friendly Building Forum, and is responsible for delivering real world evaluation of the technologies developed in the FP7 Wireless Friendly and Energy Efficient Buildings (WiFEEB) project. Dr Rigelsford is also a senior member of the IEEE.
