The CDT in Energy Storage can only offer EPSRC funded studentships to UK applicants and to EU applicants who have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years immediately preceding the start of the course.

Exceptional self-funded Home, EU or International students, or students bringing fully-funded industrial sponsorship, are eligible to participate within the CDT training and research cohorts.

The level of EPSRC studentship offered is determined by your 'UK', 'EU' or 'non-EU' student status, as follows:

  • For 'UK' status applicants the CDT in Energy Storage provides fees and an enhanced tax-free stipend of £18,000 per year.
  • For 'EU' status applicants that have been resident in the UK for the previous 3 years, the CDT in Energy Storage provides fees and an enhanced tax-free stipend of £18,000 per year.
  • EU applicants that have not been resident in the UK for the 3 years are eligible for a fees only (i.e. no stipend) studentship. Eligibility for 3 year residence in the UK is determined from the academic year start and does not alter during the 4 year programme.
  • Irrespective of studentship eligibility, the Centre requires any applicant that has not been resident in the UK within the last 3 years to demonstrate English language proficiency through an IELTS qualification score of 7.5 or above, with a minimum of 7.0 in each component.
