Dates and Deadlines

This table gives you some general information on the things you should be aware of in the months leading up to your arrival in Sheffield.

This is not a comprehensive guide.

If you are nominated to study in Sheffield either for a full year or for the Autumn semester only, your application deadline is the last Friday in June. We cannot accept applications after that date.
If you have not received an email from us containing a link to the online application form by mid June, please contact us immediately.
Note that the application deadline for students arriving in the Spring is not until the last Friday in October.

Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email containing your individual applicant number and some instructions on how to apply for housing.
If you were born outside of the EU/EEA, check the UK Border Agency website to see if you need to apply for a VISA and, if so, what kind.

The deadline to apply for University housing is 31 July if you are joining us in the Autumn. The deadline for students arriving in the Spring is 01 December.
The International Student Support team will send you some information by email about the Intro Week programme and registration procedures, so keep checking your email account.

Housing contracts for University owned accommodation are normally sent to Erasmus+ students by email via the Accommodation office. It is important that you sign your contract and return your deposit to them as soon as possible if you wish to accept the offer.

An optional Orientation Week takes place the week before the official start of term each year. It is not compulsory but highly recommended. Further information can be found here:

The official first day of the semester is the start of Intro Week (also known as Freshers’ Week), when you will need to sign up and register for courses.
