Workshops to create musical and vocal miniatures inspired by Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet
Get involved in workshops and help acclaimed music ensemble Propellor make this one-off piece for Sheffield! Propellor is bringing a brand new piece 'Loom' to Sheffield on Saturday 16 November and this is your chance to get behind the music and visuals and explore your creativity with the help of the Propellor band members.
Join members of Propellor at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet for a morning of creative fun at a fascinating heritage site. The workshop will lead participants through the process of making 'miniatures' - small exploratory pieces led by ideas. Members of Propellor will take the group on a walk around the site to gather inspiration, photographs and field recordings before some compositional games and sharing some techniques used in 'Loom'. The group will then work on developing musical or visual responses to the gathered materials - participants will get to take home a recording of their work at the end of the session! The workshop is suitable for all ages/skill levels. Participants are encouraged to bring instruments if they have them!
There is also an opportunity for participants to share their piece at the Propellor concert itself! There will be a free pre-concert sharing before each performance on Saturday 16 November where members of Propellor will explain the process behind the 'Loom' project, play excerpts from the piece, and workshop participants will be invited to share their work if they would like to.
