Year of Engineering

Get involved with the YoE!

The Year of Engineering is a government campaign which celebrates the world and wonder of engineering. The initiative is an opportunity to celebrate the contribution that engineering makes to our country and encourage young people to join the profession.

Thursday 11th October

Official opening ceremony for three research centres.

11am-4pm, Factory 2050, Sheffield Business Park, Europa View, Sheffield

The official opening of the three new engineering research centres in the heart of Sheffield City Region's Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District, next to the AMRC's Factory 2050: The Integrated Civil and Infrastructure Research Centre (iCAIR), Laboratory for Verification and Validation (LVV) and Royce Translational Centre, will take place this month. 

Wednesday 17th October

Welcome event for late & 2nd year direct entry students.

2pm-4pm, Workroom 2, The Diamond.

Calling all undergraduate students who are late to the University or are 2nd year direct entry engineering and computer science students. This welcome event is for you! Meet new and current students; come on a campus tour; get some great advice about life at Uni; and ask as many questions as you like.

Wednesday 28th November 

Mature student open evening

5pm-8pm, The Discovery Rooms 

Drop into the Discovery Rooms, Level 5 of the University of Sheffield Students' Union on Wednesday 28th November from 5pm - 8pm if you are over 21 and interested in studying at the University of Sheffield (or would like some information about engineering). There will be a series of short talks, taster activities and information stalls on what it on offer at the University.
