Alumni come back to Geography to advise students at special ‘Speed Networking Event’

imageAlumni and students came together from the Department of Geography for a special Speed Networking event last week. The event aimed to provide current students with career inspiration and advice, whilst helping them gain important networking skills for their future.

Jointly organised by GeogSoc (the Geography Student Society), the event saw sixteen geography alumni working in a wide range of sectors spend 5-10 minutes talking to small groups of students. This was followed by a wine reception where they were able to continue their conversations in a friendly and supportive environment.

“Having the opportunity to speak to so many alumni and getting their advice on navigating the graduate job market and seeing the wide range of exciting jobs Sheffield Geographers are doing was inspiring. It was also great for us to get experience networking and I feel like my confidence has increased dramatically when it comes to talking to professionals. Thank you!”  Kurtis Barrow BA Geography
