Profile

I started teaching German as a Foreign Language in 2004, when I taught in an Austrian Refugee Centre. After completing my MA degree at the University of Innsbruck (Austria), I taught English and German in various Austrian grammar schools and adult vocational colleges. I obtained a degree in Teaching German as a Foreign Language from the University of Innsbruck in 2012.

During my studies in German as a Foreign Language and English I specialised in the fields of adult second language acquisition, intercultural learning, curriculum and test development and teaching methodology.

Before coming to the University of Sheffield, I taught German Language on all levels of the CEFR at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and the University of Kent, Canterbury, where I was the OEAD Lektorin from 2015 – 2017. I also taught modules on history, film and culture in the German-speaking world.

Teaching activities

Within Germanic Studies I offer language modules in First Year (GER103/104 Grundsprachkurs), Second Year (GER201/202 Sprachpraxis) and Final Year (GER337 Presenting and Debating) as well as cultural modules (GER203 Medien und Öffentlichkeit, GER216 Österreich heute).
