What is the Global Opportunities Fair?

The Global Opportunities Fair is a drop-in event where you can talk to students and staff about the opportunities available to spend a summer, semester or a year abroad at one of our partner universities around the world. You'll also be able to find out more about opportunities to work overseas.

You'll be able to:

  • Talk to our inspirational student ambassadors who were overseas during 2018/19
  • Learn where you can study, teach or work and what opportunities would best suit your ambitions
  • Ask staff about financial support including scholarships
  • Find out about the application and selection process and the key deadlines

What programmes are available for studying overseas?

The Erasmus+ programme offers opportunities to study at partner universities in Europe. There are also opportunities to teach and work in Europe through the programme.

The Study Abroad programme offers opportunities to study with partner institutions outside of Europe in countries including Australia, Canada, the United States, Singapore and India.

We also offer a programme of summer schools at our partner institutions if you'd prefer to spend a shorter period overseas.

We will also be joined by colleagues in Careers who have arranged for organisations who offer international work placements and volunteering to be present. The list of organisations is available through Career Connect.

When is the deadline?

Study Abroad

The deadline for the Study Abroad programme is 5pm 1st December 2019, so it is important to get as much information as possible before you apply and research where you can study.

The deadline for Erasmus+ will be later but it is important to speak to your Erasmus+ tutor and get as much information on this as possible.

Summer Schools

The deadline will be set by the university offering the summer school. Check our summer school pages for deadlines to apply for funding from Global Opportunities.

Working abroad

If you are planning on adding a placement year or year in industry to your degree, speak to your department as soon as possible. The deadline to apply for work opportunities abroad will depend on the provider.

How can I find out more?

The Global Opportunities Fair is a great way to find out more information and speak to students who recently spent a summer, a semester or a year abroad. There will be staff on hand to talk through funding support and answer any questions

If you're unable to attend the Fair, you can contact Global Opportunities & Exchanges by email: or come to one of our drop in sessions:
