Why did you decide to study abroad?

Whilst researching universities, I discovered you could do a year abroad and I was drawn to the idea. I enjoy travelling and this was the perfect opportunity to experience living in a new country with a different culture. Having the year abroad experience would look good to employers as it shows I am confident and able to take on big challenges.

What were your top 3 highlights whilst studying abroad?

  1. Watching the Singaporean F1 and seeing Dua Lipa live!
  2. Going to Australia and visiting my childhood friend who has moved there
  3. Performing in a Joint Dance Concert with the DanceSport society in front of 1000 people at the university

What would you say to someone who was unsure about spending a period abroad?

At the end of second year I was doubting whether I wanted to go as I love Sheffield and have amazing friends here. However, I knew I would’ve regretted not going as it’s something I’ve wanted to do since before coming to uni. I am so glad I went, and I had an incredible time! Being unsure is completely normal as it’s a big lifestyle change but it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity!

What is the one thing you wish you'd known before you left?

It’s not all sunshine. There were many challenges to overcome and times when I just wanted to come home but overall the good times outweigh the bad!
