Why did you decide to study abroad?
I've always wanted to live in another country so a year studying abroad was perfect for me. Studying abroad also meant I could travel and see more of the world.
What were your top 3 highlights whilst studying abroad?
- Skiing in Queenstown
- Travelling around South East Asia and scuba diving with manta rays in the Komodo National Park
- Going on a road trip around North Island during Easter
What would you say to someone who was unsure about spending a period abroad?
Everyone is nervous when they move abroad but it honestly is such an amazing thing to do. You get a lot of support with all the applications and making friends in a new country is surprisingly easy. This isn't an opportunity many people get so you shouldn't turn it down.
What is the one thing you wish you'd known before you left?
A year is less time than you expect so if there's things you want to do while you're away, don't put it off. Just try to make the most of every day you're abroad.
