Global Summer Experience Scholarship
The Global Summer Experience scholarship pays for your airfare, tuition fees and accommodation at a summer school with one of our selected international partner universities.
Who can apply?
Undergraduate offer holders who hold an academic offer to study a full time, undergraduate course at the University of Sheffield starting in September 2021, who are eligible to pay the home rate of fees and who are expected to achieve A*, A, A (or higher) in A-Levels (or equivalent).
Further places will be available in Autumn 2021 to students in receipt of a University of Sheffield bursary. Eligible students will be invited to apply by email.
When will the summer school take place?
Winners undertake the summer school after completing their first year of university. Those starting at the University in 2021 will go on the summer school in 2022.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, summer opportunities in 2022 may be subject to change or cancellation at short notice. Whilst we are anticipating that overseas travel will be permitted by summer 2022, partner universities are still reviewing their summer school plans for 2022. Some summer schools may be offered as a virtual experience only (for which students will still receive a Global Summer Experience Scholarship if there are associated fees) or may be cancelled altogether. Students should keep this in mind and take a flexible approach when selecting their choices.
Where can I go?
The guidance below gives you information about destinations which have been previously offered, though destinations are subject to change from year to year.
Global Opportunities & Exchanges will contact successful recipients of the Global Summer Experience scholarship in early 2022 with details of available options. Students will be required to rank the available options and submit a personal statement online.
