Yorkshire Medical Chambers

The Yorkshire Medical Chambers is a group of highly professional freelance GPs who provide medical support across Yorkshire. To apply or for more information please email or call 0844 8709174.

Barnsley Medical Chambers

The Barnsley Medical Chambers is a group of highly professional freelance GPs who provide medical support across Barnsley and surrounding areas. Meaning you remain a self employed Doctor but with the support of a virtual practice. To apply or for more information please email or call 01226 446094.

A medical chambers is not a locum agency! The Barnsley Medical Chambers is fundamentally run as a virtual practice, every doctor goes through an interview process, provides references and has to meet a set criteria before being accepted into the chambers, we pride ourselves in providing medical support that is of the highest quality, a recent audit showed that our doctors referrals are as low as doctors employed within practices. The Barnsley Medical Chambers will shortly be holding monthly clinical meetings to discuss patient admissions, significant events, keep up to date with the latest clinical commissioning group news, training, themed learning and to share experience and reflections.

There is no cost to practices using the chambers, the chambers is paid for by it's members and therefore there are no hidden costs to practices. However you will have the benefit not only of access to a highly professional group of GPs but also an administration team to aid your booking and find you the right GP for your practice.

New GP Job Website

Developed by Leeds ST3 GP trainee Mehul Patel, this new website introduced in July 2017 aims to become a central location for advertising GP vacancies throughout the UK.  This is not an agency but simply a notice board for practices to list adverts free of charge with the hope of attracting candidates from a wider audience.

BMA Locum Resource

The BMA published a GP locum handbook on line in August 2012. As the handbook is a benefit for BMA members, it can be accessed via the Sessional GP section after logging in to the BMA website. The handbook includes information on a variety of topics, such as:

  • starting out as a locum GP;
  • setting up a business;
  • agreeing contracts for services with different employers.

Pulse Magazine

Pulse is the most read GP magazine in the UK (National Medical Readership Survey) and we currently have a number of GP roles in Sheffield being advertised currently on our jobs board -

Practice Vacancy Contact Information Details
Larwood Health Partnership
North Nottinghamshire
S81 0HH

Please see our website for details of how to apply or contact Sarah Dale, Practice Manager to organise an informal visit/chat on 01909 537191.

Larwood Health Partnership has an exciting opportunity for a GP to join an “Outstanding” practice and develop new skills while being supported by an established team.

We have 32,000 patients over 5 sites in North Nottinghamshire. We focus on the needs of local people and have always provided opportunities for our GPs to develop specialist skills, (which may include financial support to undertake further education), including the potential to be involved in substance misuse, teaching and intermediate care.

We have a strong record of innovation and have successfully implemented the AskmyGP system which has reduced GP workload and improved access for patients.

We have GP representation in commissioning and ACP at board level. As a practice we are able to influence the local NHS at district level and much wider.

We are rated Outstanding by CQC in 10 out of 11 domains, have been awarded the RCGP Quality Practice Award and are an Advanced Training Practice, providing training at all levels within primary care.

We are looking to recruit an additional GP, salaried initially with potential progression to partnership. We have a strong record of successful recruitment, with each new GP having a mentor and named secretary and the opportunity to develop roles. GPs are supported by an excellent team of experienced managers, nurses and staff.

We have 3 aims: Staff Support, Better Patient Outcomes and Efficient Ways of Working. We want a GP with the same vision to help us provide excellent medical care but also develop their role with support.

We believe in General Practice and the importance of being part of a supportive team. Our team includes 3 practice pharmacists, 2 paramedics and nurse practitioners. We work in partnership with community nurses and the voluntary sector. We also provide protected learning time to attend local education sessions. The practice organises events for the next generation of GPs and you would be able to join us in these if you wish.

We would be happy to arrange informal visits or phone calls with one of our GPs.

A recent F2 doctor gave this feedback recently - despite difficult times for General Practice we continue to work in a supportive and innovative practice.

“Would you recommend this Practice as a training Practice?

Absolutely – This has been a lovely rotation, with excellent senior support and a lovely team of staff. I have felt well-supported and never out of place. Furthermore, I felt like I could approach anyone, and had several, invaluable open discussions with senior GPs about career choices and life as a GP. This has spurred me onward from sitting on the fence to pursue a career as a GP.”
