New GP Job Website

Developed by Leeds ST3 GP trainee Mehul Patel, this new website introduced in July 2017 aims to become a central location for advertising GP vacancies throughout the UK.  This is not an agency but simply a notice board for practices to list adverts free of charge with the hope of attracting candidates from a wider audience.

BMA Locum Resource

The BMA published a GP locum handbook on line in August 2012. As the handbook is a benefit for BMA members, it can be accessed via the Sessional GP section after logging in to the BMA website. The handbook includes information on a variety of topics, such as:

  • starting out as a locum GP;
  • setting up a business;
  • agreeing contracts for services with different employers.

We have implemented:

We offer services including travel vaccines, minor surgery, coil and implant fitting and pro-active home visits by the nursing team.

We require a GP who wants to be involved in developing the future of General Practice. We recognise that to find the right person we may need to be flexible. We have a maximum of 5 sessions a week available, but are willing to be flexible beyond that in terms of experience, areas of interest and days of work.

The Market Surgery
Warehouse Lane

Salaried GP

Please contact Mike Cox, Practice Manager, for more information or to apply

The Market Surgery is a well-established Practice within Rotherham CCG, providing primary healthcare to the residents of Wath-Upon-Dearne, as well as some areas of Swinton and Brampton Bierlow.

Our current vacancy for a salaried GP is due to the up-coming retirement of one of our long-standing GP partners who has been with the Practice for in excess of 20 years. Ideally we are looking to recruit a salaried GP to work 6 sessions a week, although this can be adapted for the right candidate.
The surgery itself occupies a large modern purpose built facilities in the centre of Wath with a total of 18 consultation rooms and a patient population of approximately 12,000. We are currently an EMIS Web practice although we are exploring the option of migrating to TPP System One during the coming financial year.

The applicant will be joining a diverse team which encompasses a wide range of clinical and clerical expertise. Currently our team consists of:

  • 5 GP partners
  • 4 salaried GPs
  • GP Registrar
  • A large nursing team of ANPs, practice nurses and HCAs
  • Clinical lead and Practice Manager
  • Reception, finance, and administration team

We are a modern and progressive practice that embraces change within the Primary Healthcare environment keeping up to date with the latest methods of practice and efficient working. This has seen us utilise a variety of services available to improve access for our patients which include physiotherapist, alcohol IAPT and health trainer services, nurse led ‘on call triage’ and we are currently exploring the roles of physician associates and clinical pharmacists.

We are also a training practice and we encourage all of our staff, to pursue their areas of expertise and interest and to utilise their skills for the benefit of the practice and our patient population. We have a culture of encouraging our staff to learn and develop and this has seen us seen us grow our pool of talented individuals. As well as GP registrars we have recently taken GPs on Induction and refresher courses, Physician Associate and nursing trainees, and we also currently have HCA and clerical apprentices. Many of our current Partners and GPs also commit to further work of which the practice is supportive. This includes work for Deanery, Federation, CCG, locum work and Rotherham Urgent Care Centre.

As with all of our salaried GPs and the wider team, we would have an expectation that the candidate constructively works towards practice goals and maximising patient care and outcomes as per our enhanced services and QOF targets.

As well as a competitive salary – agenda for change GP payments – the practice pays medical liability and GMC registration fees. The post is available from the beginning of July but variations will be considered for the right individual to fit in around suitable time-frames.

The position is currently being advertised until 2 April 2018
