Your first point of contact in the Department of History is the Postgraduate Support Manager. The Director of Graduate Studies is also your main contact for academic advice.

Our reception is open weekdays 10.00am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4.00pm. The departmental telephone number is 0114 222 2555 and email is history@sheffield.ac.uk.

All academic staff have office hours each week during term-time where you can drop in to ask a question or seek advice.

Communicating with Staff

Please take care to be polite and respectful when you address academic and administrative staff both via email and in person. If you want to make a complaint or raise an urgent matter, you are most likely to be effective if you communicate in a calm and courteous fashion.

Academic and support staff check email accounts regularly, and during term-time we aim to respond to your messages within 2-3 working days, but do consider whether your message is really necessary first – the information may be available already on the website!
